During the spring of 2016 McErlean Plastering was nominated for the replacement of the lime render to the historic Killyleigh Castle Co Down.
This complex project made use of our vast knowledge of lime and experience in sympathetic restorations to replace the lime Harling to the exterior of the turrets and chimneys. To deliver a faithful recreation and to match the current surface covering in situ – our skilled tradesmen specified the use of round tower lime and river bed gravel to achieve the required specification.
This natural hydraulic lime method is almost unchanged in centuries and is excellent in old stone buildings for allowing the permeation of moisture and provides great flexibility to prevent cracking.
