Effective material choices and technical knowledge can breathe new life into old properties and make an older structure fit for purpose in the energy efficient modern era.
These old community centre sites were afforded a new lease of life in 2011. Working with a lead contractor, McErlean Plastering undertook the renovation of the interior plasterboard and plasterwork. Our team used insulated plasterboard to increase the thermal efficiency and reduce running costs at these publicly funded buildings. This is an excellent example of how correct material choice can have added long term benefits to the life of the structure and to running costs.
In the current economic climate this culture of renovation and repair of existing buildings is on the rise. Our team at McErlean Plastering are always searching for new materials and techniques using modern materials to get the best from any project. In this circumstance the existing structure was a pre-fabricated building from the 1970's using a timber frame construction method. Our team used material choices to increase the thermal efficiency of the existing structure and thus lowering running costs for the association running the centres.
